Currently residing and practicing OMT in Silicon Valley, Stephania graduated from BCOM in 2010 (with a masters in Osteopathic Medicine and diploma in Naturopathy).
Upon graduating Steph worked with Amberin in London whilst managing her own small private practice in Primrose Hill. Steph travelled with Amberin to India to work with children and spread osteopathy to parts of the world where it is not yet easily accessible.
After moving to California Steph’s interests developed in the field of autoimmunity, neurology and traumatic brain injury. She discovered how young teenagers and soldiers with concussion can later have severe physiological side effects. Chronic pain patterns and systemic disease can often be traced to a single traumatic event or multiple low grade traumas. Many people with hormonal imbalance or underlying autoimmune conditions often present with physical pain or headaches. These patients often slip through the cracks in the conventional medical system or are passed between specialists. Many feel frustrated without answers and unwilling to remain on pharmaceutical intervention for life and seek alternative care.
Paying great attention to all the details during her structural assessments and treatments, Steph aims to piece together all the symptoms her patients present with in order to determine the root cause of the issues. With a deeper understanding of the anatomy and psychology, Steph helps her patients to understand their body and symptoms and develops for them an effective care plan.
In treatment Steph uses both classical OMT and biodynamic direct and indirect cranial techniques. She is a British Naturopath, holds a post-graduate diploma in dry needling (Western Acupuncture), NASM personal trainer and Rocktape certified. The combination of hands on work, needling, taping, exercise and nutritional advice gives her many tools to help her patients become healthier and pain free.
Steph believes in an exceptional health care team for each individual and therefore has established a core group of top medical and health care professionals in the San Francisco/Bay Area and Los Angeles. Where osteopathy has its limitations, Steph will refer out to the right provider if necessary.
Steph is a registered member of the General Osteopathic Council, International Osteopathic Association, SF-Bay Area Osteopathic Group and California Massage Therapy Council. She teaches anatomy and technique workshops for graduates and manual therapists with her associate colleague. She continues her personal education with her peers who studied with the students of Sutherland and AT Still. She has a great love for the medicinal art and spirituality osteopathy offers.
